Extraordinary Events

What if you gave yourself time to think about your life?

Most of us spend our days operating our lives. We work, make plans, meet obligations and keep things moving. Even when life is good, we rarely stop long enough to ask what we want more of.

An Extraordinary weekend gives you that space. Alan and Katie Donegan bring powerful ideas, searching questions and guided reflection into a room full of people who are curious about the lives they are building.

There is time to think deeply, talk things through, meet people who see the world differently and have a lot of fun together. You do not have to figure out your entire future. You can leave with a clearer sense of what matters and something you are excited to try.

Inside the weekend

Big ideas. Time to think. People to think with.

The teaching is a big part of why you come. Alan and Katie bring ideas and questions into the room, then give you time to work through what they mean for your own life.

Ask questions, test an idea, hear how someone else sees it. Some conversations carry on over food or outside in the sunshine.

We make room for deep thinking and plenty of laughter. Both belong here.

Who comes to Extraordinary?

Curious people at all kinds of turning points.

You might be just discovering financial independence, getting closer to it, or already wondering what comes next. You might be considering a move, a change in work or simply how to bring more joy into a life that is already good.

You are open to questioning the usual path rather than following it by default.

You enjoy meeting kind people and hearing how they see the world.

You are willing to think deeply, without expecting anyone to have all the answers.

There is no FI number you need to reach before you belong in this room.

Ideas you can use

Think differently. Decide what matters. Start creating.

What could you build with more freedom, better questions and people to think with?

We bring practical tools, decision-making questions and ideas from self-development into the room, and explore them through the lens of financial independence. The point is not to hand you our idea of a perfect life. It is to help you see more possibilities for yours.

Questions that reveal your choices

Notice which ideas of success are yours, and which you might want to reconsider.

Tools to think things through

Work through a decision instead of waiting for a sudden moment of certainty.

Space to find what matters now

Think about the life you are building in this chapter, not the one you thought you had to want years ago.

A mini experiment to run

Try a small next move in real life. Sometimes action teaches you what thinking alone cannot.

Come for ideas you can use. Leave with new ways to ask questions, make choices and take action.

Where it began

The extraordinary belongs to those that create it.

Alan repeats those words to himself again and again. They remind us that an extraordinary life is not handed to a lucky few. We can ask what matters, make choices and build our own version, one step at a time.

We created these weekends to share what we have learnt about lifestyle design and creating extraordinary, and to make room for everyone else to explore their own answers. The talks are powerful. So are the questions, the time to reflect and the people you meet along the way.

Our first Extraordinary weekend took place at the HQ of Mr Money Mustache. We brought people together to talk about financial independence, business, working together and what we might create with our lives. The conversations carried on outside the workshops, around meals and into the evening.

In Las Vegas we joined Brad Barrett from ChooseFI for a weekend of life-design exercises and community. People explored what they wanted across different areas of life, then brought their questions and ideas into the room. You can hear a piece of that weekend in the live ChooseFI recording.

Richmond gave us another weekend to teach, reflect and spend time together. Workshops continued into conversations over food and the Sunday evening community talks. Brad, Katie and Alan also recorded a live ChooseFI episode with questions from the room.

Each event is different. The question at the heart of them is the same: what would extraordinary look like for you, and what might you create next?
