I (Alan) got fired in 2008 and I couldn’t find a job I actually wanted to do, so I decided to start my own business. I had been on a series of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) courses that had changed my life, built my confidence and given me energy. I was so inspired by these courses that I wanted to share what I had learnt with the world.

This was the start of a life long mission of learning and then sharing what I had learnt to help others. I have been through many iterations that all start with learning something to improve my life and then finding a way to teach others.

• Confidence: I learnt to be more confident and then wanted to help other people with this. Increased confidence helped me to have a more positive outlook on life, take action and improve every area of my world
• Presenting: I learnt how to present as I wanted to teach others. I spend 7 years studying the world champions of public speaking, PowerPoint and how to communicate. Then I wrote workshops to teach what I learnt. I was on a mission to eradicate boring PowerPoints for many years. I felt this was a national service at the time.
• Start-Ups: Starting my own business was SUPER painful and I learnt so much doing it, this then let to setting up Rebel Business School and teaching people around the world that you don’t need money to make money and that you can build businesses and make money doing what you love. That has operated in 11 countries and helped 40,000 people build debt free business, probably more.
• Money: my money had always been a bit of a mess but I had a deep desire to sort it out based on the pain that it had caused when my dad went bankrupt for £3.6M and lost the family home. I did not want that to happen to me. So I went out and learnt about money, I went on every course I could find, read every book and start to improve my situation. Katie and I reached Financial Independence (we never had to work again if we didn’t want to) in 2019. Then in 2020 we started Rebel Finance School to help other people get on top of their finances.
• Life-Style Design: I heard the expression “The Extraordinary belongs to those that create it” on a flight from LA to London and it hit me like a tidal wave sweeping away all thoughts that “I wasn’t designing my life” It set me on a mission to build my own version of an extraordinary life. You can guess the next step? We started to teach the skills we had learnt.

This has become our mission. To learn, to test and implement and to find out what works and what doesn’t. Think of me as the scout venturing ahead of the party, encountering dangers first to ensure a safe journey for those behind. I go out their to find the best route to where you want to be and then report back on how to get their easier and quicker.

Speaking to one couple this week who had come on Rebel Finance School, they had taken what they had learnt, applied it and saved 10 years of their retirement date. We had been out there, tried everything, lost our life savings in managed funds, invested in properties, dealt with a rental property being turned into a weed farm so that other people can find an easier way.

That has always been our hope and mission that we can help you get where you want to get to faster. You can sort out your finances, build a business or create your version of an extraordinary life decades faster than you would have been able to through trial and error alone.

Katie and I got to the stage where we never had to work again if we didn’t want to in 2019. Katie was 35 and I was 40. We decided to pack up our things, sell out apartment and go on some adventures. For the last 5 years we have travelled the world and explored

We quickly learnt that one needs a purpose in retirement. A reason to get up in the morning, something that drives you.

It was in deepest and darkest lock down in 2020 that we launched Rebel Finance School to give back. We spend our hours, not consuming Netflix but rather creating a course to help people. That finance course is now in it’s fifth year and has helped nearly 20,000 people get on top of their money.

Purpose, meaning, mission, call it what you want to, is essential for happiness. Humans need to feel like they are progressing and doing something meaningful. Happiness = progress.

We have found our biggest sources of happiness is helping others to improve their situations. We do this in three different ways. Helping them start businesses with Rebel Business School, helping them get on top of their finances through Rebel Finance School and helping people design their lives the way they want them through The Extraordinary life course.
