Help Us Run Rebel Finance School
Rebel Finance School has grown into something far bigger than the two of us shouting enthusiastically about index funds on the internet. 50,000 people from 90 countries came to the 2025 course alone!
Every year, tens of thousands of people join us to learn how money works, get out of debt, start investing, build confidence and create their version of an extraordinary life.
Behind the scenes, an incredible group of volunteers help make that possible. Katie and I put a lot into this but there is no way we could get this all to work without you!
The volunteers answer questions, welcome people, test tools, review resources, remove internet nonsense, support the live course and help keep the Rebel community useful, kind and on track.
These wonderful humans are the Rebel Ninjas.
If you would like to help, there are three simple ways to get involved.

Start with the Rebel Ninja Charter
Rebel Ninjas support real people as they learn about money, build confidence and take important steps in their lives. We take that seriously, while still keeping the whole thing human, fun and encouraging. The Charter explains the spirit of the team: useful, kind, calm, practical and here to support the community.
Three ways to get involved
You do not need to do everything. You do not need to be available all the time. Just choose the route that fits your energy, skills and availability.
Facebook Team
Help keep the Rebel Finance School Facebook group safe, useful and welcoming. This includes spotting spam, answering questions and helping out with what the group needs.
Live Team 2026
Help during the live sessions by welcoming people, answering simple questions, sharing links and keeping the chat friendly and useful.
Testing & Projects
Help occasionally with tools, pages, emails, worksheets and new ideas. We email when there is a project. You help if you have time.
1. Rebel Finance School Facebook Group
Help people in the Rebel Facebook groups
At the moment, we have a full team of Facebook admins and moderators and we're not currently looking to add more. But you absolutely do not need a special badge, permission slip or ceremonial pineapple to be useful in the Rebel Finance School community.
If you want to help, the best thing you can do is dive into the Facebook groups, welcome people, answer questions where you can, share useful resources and help keep the community kind, practical and encouraging.
The mission is simple: help people feel supported while they learn about money. No power trips. No financial guru energy. Just useful, friendly Rebel help.

The Live Team is for people who want to be part of the action while the course is running. You do not need to be at every session. You do not need to know every answer. You just need to be helpful, kind and willing to support people as they learn.

Session Producers
Within the Live Team, we are also looking for RFS producers. This is brand new for 2026 and we think it will make a huge difference to how things are run and organised. This is your chance to take charge of the Donegans and work directly with us to make RFS even better.
Producers will be in charge of particular workshops. They'll help watch the live chat, spot important themes and pass key questions or issues to Alan and Katie during the session.
Producer role
Read the full role description, see what is involved, and apply using the short form.
Read more and apply →3. Testing and special projects
Help us test, improve and build useful things
This is a more adhoc and lower commitment way to help Rebel Finance School. No extra WhatsApp group. No ongoing commitment. No need to attend live sessions. Just occasional projects, useful feedback and extra eyes when we are building something new.
If you like testing tools, reviewing pages, spotting confusing bits or helping us make things better before they go out into the world, this could be perfect for you.
The idea is simple: when we have something that needs testing or feedback, we will email you. If you have time and fancy helping, brilliant. If not, ignore the email guilt-free and go live your life.
You might help with
- Testing tools, calculators or spreadsheets.
- Reviewing draft emails or webpages.
- Checking worksheets, downloads or course resources.
- Testing sign-up flows and links.
- Giving feedback on new ideas before they go public.
- Spotting confusing bits, broken bits or “Alan has got carried away again” rants.
How it works
- Join the projects list.
Add your details to the Testing and Special Projects list using the form below. - We email when we need help.
We will explain what the project is, what kind of feedback we need and when we need it by. - You choose whether to help.
If the project sounds interesting and you have time, jump in. If not, no problem. - You send feedback in the way we ask.
That might be a form, a reply, a document comment or a quick test of a tool or page.
Want to be on the testing list?
Pop your details in the form below and we will add you to the Testing and Special Projects list. We will email you each time we launch a new project or have something that needs testing. You’re welcome to get involved with as many or as few as you have time for.
**Please note that this will also add you to the overall Rebel Donegans mailing list. We promise to never spam you and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Low pressure by design. This is for occasional help, feedback and testing. No mysterious WhatsApp group called “Project Pineapple Spreadsheet Final FINAL v7”. Probably.

Happy to be considered for LinkedIn content as this is my day gig. No website but I have plenty of examples of driving LI pages from 2k to nearly 50k
You are amazing. That is exactly what we need help with and would love that. I think you emailed as well? We will reply now! Alan
Aww, I’ll miss all the crazy WhatsApp chats… Wait, which version of which spreadsheet are we talking about? ;-)
lol Erin that was an intense but ffun time and what progress we made together! Alan
Re – 5 i.e. being able to “deal with the most common questions in a more efficient manor… ” Of course a Manor would be conducive to inspired thinking, and better, faster, clearer understanding…As I happen to live in a Manor (or believe I do ;)) I would like to volunteer to go through the Q&As so far, and identify & consolidate FAQs / Answers.
I sm currently in a NEST pension squirrelling away 10% via salary sacrifice. What would you need help build a case to lobby the Govt?
Anjani, you are amazing. Love this energy. I need help managing me and the other ninjas, making sure we do it, helping with the pulling together of the articles and then making me write the letters and maybe helping me draft the letters and making sure we follow up with the relevant people, finding the people in government etc. So many fun things to really make it happen. DOes that hep make it clearer? Alan
Hi Alan and Katie. I can help with several areas. My day job is a learning and development specialist building online and virtual classroom learning experiences. I also make and edit video content. I also do knowledge management as it is an extension of learning. Hopefully some things in there that can be of help! Donāt have a website but do have a LinkedIn profile.
Neil wow you have some skills! There is so much we want to do to help everyone and your skills would be amazing to help people even further. have you done the course before? This is so exciting. We will message after we have got the week 2 done! Alan
Hi Alan – wow the summer has flown by! Not sure I got a message from you after the week 2 session, I know that tonight is your last one for this cohort (good luck). I haven’t done the course before but have been following FIRE for the past 8 years. It would be great to catch up once you are finished with the session tonight to see where I can get involved. I am also considering starting my own business – you wouldnt know a place where I can learn about doing that debt free? haha! Good luck tonight and hopefully we can chat in the next few days once the course is done.
Neil Penny
Hey Neil! Letās definitely catch up after the final session. Rebel Business School are doing a Monday night type thing RFS style starting September! lol. FIRE + entrepreneurship = freedom rocket š What kind of business are you thinking of starting? What’s your plans!???
Peace and Pineapples šāļø
I’m a subtitler, transcriptionist, proofreader, editor, sense checker, writer – basically, if it’s words, I do it. I’ve just started the course as I want to be better at numbers as well as words and not a penniless wordsmith, scratching away in a garret somewhere as that’s just such a CLICHE, isn’t it?!
Hello, I am interested in assisting with the NEST project – I have been a P.A. so have some experience of wrangling busy people!
I have a few years experience working in Local Govt and would be happy to assist with drafting letters / general research and campaigning for change but would prefer to leave the data analysis to you both.
And yes I also have a NEST pension that I currently contribute into every month, and I could see wasn’t performing well in comparison to my other SIPP but I didn’t get around to investigating properly why… Happily after Week 1 and from reading comments on the RFS facebook, I have already switched funds so feel more in control already.
Victoria this is AMAZING. I love it. Thank you those skills would be so so so useful. We are working on it now and making progress. I am so excited. We would LOVE to have your support. Making progress. Alan
Iād be happy to help with teen finance.

Hi Guys
Would love to give back by helping with anything you need. Finding your yt videos has been seriously life changing for us, still working through getting our finances under control and shaking the sand out of my ears :o)
I am a technical business analyst by trade, working in finance.
Thanks for everything you do!
Gavin, YAY! welcome to the group and thank you for the comment. That is amazing. I love it. And cool career as well. We want to do more analysis on the course this year and we have been working on our own data and improving our own analysis for the course every single year.
I am so glad the course helped. You are amazing.
Want to help us do Data for the course for this year?
Sending happiness. Alan
I’ll happily jump in and support in the Facebook with comments again this year, can’t offer much more due to work pressures too. Hoping to get that special discount on the course fees though ;)
Robert for you. I will send you a discount code for RFS! lol. Even a 20% referral fee for people you get to come! you are AMAZING. That would be fabulous. THANK YOU
Happy to help and support when I can.
I have other commitments to help people build their gap thru public speaking, which helps to give them confidence to speak up in meetings and often just get noticed at work.
Like RFS we have a high female content, such as women, looking to build confidence to get back into to work after having kids, others come because they have not been successful in job interview and feedback often is lacking confidence.
Simon I LOVE that work you are doing. WOW. good work. That is so important. Anything you can do to help is greatly appreciated and if we can help with your mission let us know. We would love to support you too! Alan
Alan – Katie’s Financial Forecasting spreadsheet tool is by far the best tool for modelling multiple income sources/ multiple investment types in retirement that I’ve found from any source. I’ve used it to help myself and a couple of close friends model their position (best way to learn something is to try and explain it to someone! – so this has strengthened my confidence in my understanding and in the spreadsheet). I’d be keen to help with this tool specifically as well as anything else that needs testing. (I’m quite good at breaking stuff :) )
I’ll also add a keenness to help spread the word – if there is a project around taking the message into other places (that you don’t have time for!) I’d be interested in that.
and I’ll join some of the live sessions and continue commenting in the min FB group :)
Hi both, I have spent a lifetime testing and critiquing systems and processes. I’m also trialling retirement, so if you’re looking for someone with time to kick the tyres and find the flaws in spreadsheets, emails, websites, anything really …. my details follow.
Sharon we would LOVE that. That would be so useful. We know we have wholes but as just two people it is so hard to spot them and keep on top of them! YES PLEASE. Alan
Hiya Donegans – Alan Donegan (hope this is YOU, Alan! š) & Katie! š. (Was gonna post this on the FB page but wasn’t sure if it would get to you…)
Lumen here…current happy participant in your 2026 RFS! Many thanks to you two for FLIPPING-THA-SCRIPT on Financial FREEDOM!!! šŖš„š Am absalootely! LUVIN’ your course: It’s extremely well thought-out, organized, & practical; & you’ve managed to take something complex & ‘boring’ (for most people) & make it FUN, entertaining, & something people are excited about. Despite 30+ yrs in the Financial Industry (Accounting + Investments-Admin), I’m getting an incredible amount of value from your RFS. What you’re teaching should be TAUGHT to our CHILDREN – future leaders!
I’m a FIRE-RFS ‘LIFER’ & would like to throw my hat in the ring as a CANADIAN Financial Industry NINJA-ess (once I’ve finished this course); perhaps to prep for Canadian Investments Research for your 2027 RFS – if that’s something on your RFS burner. Happy to help & lend my skills & knowledge for sucha worthy cause.
– Lumen, also a Data Nerdess like Katie, Lego-Lovah like Alan; & bfast lovah like y’all! LOL
Lumen you are AMAZING. we love Canada and spent some time there recently. I am so happy the course helped and you enjoyed it! YAY. Love the energy in your messaged. That is AWESOME. We are planning a Canadian session with Kristy and Bryce from Millennial Revolution at some point like we do the USA and UK session this week but specifically for Canada. maybe you can help us do that one and organise the Canadian Facebook group? Would be cool to help more Canadians with the specifics! Sending you huge love and happiness.
Hiya Donegans,
Thx for your reply, Alan! Glad you enjoyed our Canada! Just finished the US Session (great job to you two & BOB!) – took LOTS of notes to get an outline of what we’d need to do for the Canadian Version in 2027, which I’d be MORE than happy to help research for! (I wouldn’t have the bandwidth or knowledge to START UP the Canadian Facebook Group; but prefer to research & dive into data.) I’ll dig more into the Ninja Volunteer TO DO’s to starting prepping for 2027!
hey Lumen, that works for us. the research and then we can get Kristy and Bryce to help us as well and make a cool presentation! Let’s chat once the course is done! Alan
Sounds good Alan!
