My problem is that I’ve always felt poor despite earning quite good money through my business that I set up after becoming pregnant in America, I was illegal but it wasn’t such a big deal in the 90’s everyone was illegal in Key West but I didn’t qualify for benefits so had to figure a way to raise my child on my own which I did mainly by taking a book on bookkeeping out from the library & using pencil for my answers, then did H&R Block course at night & see up side hustle on my main job after baby went to bed that eventually turned into my main bread & butter & have become a multimillion, I’m not saying I live as a pov because I don’t but never feel like I’ve done enough

Hi there, love the idea of getting personalised answers to people’s financial situation and helping them to fast track to their end goal. Can you participate without being filmed or is it a condition you agree to be filmed for release on YouTube? The other reason for attending was to get info on setting up a business to earn extra money (so killing 2 birds with one stone).
Alisa, lovely message. The idea is that we film it so we can help many people that watch as well. So we chat to a couple of one person, film it and then it helps thousands, hundreds of thousands more. Couple of ideas for you.

Hi Alan and Katie (or Ninja if you are answering on behalf of the A&J), here are answers to your questions:
– yes, I’m on your mailing list and I’m doing the course for the first time this year
– yes I can see that this type of video hopefully will help lots more people take action to Financial Freedom
– yes I really love the idea of the Business school course starting in September (I will be there!!).
My situation:
– I have £1K emergency fund & all debt sorted (except mortgage, BTL mortgages) & 6+ months fund which I call my “war chest”.
– I have been practising FIRE without really knowing it as I have tracked my expenses for 10 years (in detail) and moving my BTL portfolio to shares. I knew there should be a better way of doing it but didn’t know what that was until I came across your course and index funds. So I’m hoping I can really make that leap to financial freedom as I have a substantial amount of cash or shares to convert to index funds.
There are a couple of things:
1) I hesitate about the public video because of the trolls, the self-appointed thought police and general naysayers who don’t have anything positive to say. You may already have come across those 🙄🙄
2) to really make an impact, you would need to do “catch up” videos every 2-4 years to see how the portfolio is going then at the end of one of those “fast forward” finale to show all the stages in one go.
I will mull over what you’ve said and come back to you.

Ailsa, this is Alan replying! Hello! You are in a great position and making HUGE progress. LOVE IT. To your points
1. the trolls will always be there. We have had a LOT of them. When Katie was featured in the Sun for retiring early they were brutal. But you ignore those, they are the loud minority and the silent majority are inspired by what you do and change their lives. it isn’t for everyone but we chose to ignore the trolls and put ourselves out there in an effort to inspire a lot of other people.
2. We would LOVE to do the follow ups. you are so right. We will get the first episodes out and see where it takes us! Then we absolutely need to do the checkins!

Thanks for replying and agreeing that the follow up videos every 2-4 years would be needed to show the impact of the investments.
Yes – I have mulled over your suggestions and I would like to help by participating in the episodes as I am shocked that only tens of 1000s of people watch your training videos when it should be millions!
There are only 2 conditions … 1) i will check with my solicitor that I can do this and 2) my two children are not mentioned at all (as this is where the trolls, the self-appointed thought police etc can get to you psychologically on social media).
I will come back to confirm once I’ve checked in with my solicitor when he returns his holiday in Italy in a few days time.

Ailsa, it is terrible how the trolls use family and other things to get to you sometimes. We can avoid that as a subject and let me know what you think. We are working on getting the training out to more people and reaching more people. it is interesting that all the education that people need has been free and available for 5 years and we haven’t been able to persuade that many 60,000+ people to do it! lol. Sending you happiness.
PS … I really like your SJP bashing. I have always thought they were wolves in sheep clothing and absolutely bad for anyone wanting to be financially free. I’m glad I’ve been proven right. Well done for exposing them for what they are 👏👏👏

Hi Alan, thanks for your patience about my application. I left a message for my solicitor (and personal friend) about appearing on the show. He’s mulling it over as I’m a landlord with several properties.
He’s wondering about any backlash like Katie had in the media ie “landlord makes it to FI (has a £1m in ISA) by making money from tenants” etc etc
You know, the usual twisted stuff the media come up with. His thoughts are that both mainstream media and social media would like to do a bit of landlord bashing :-( but it would be a different story if I was a bus driver who made a £1m!!
He will come back to me after the weekend.
Meanwhile, I have been reflecting on why you don’t have your 100,000th student them your 500,000th student then your 1,000,000th student.
I have some thoughts on this and I will put this in some sensible order for you over the next few days (I have a MSc. In International Strategic Marketing).

Ailsa, thank you for your thoughtful message. Media narratives can be tricky, but your story is one of empowerment and smart choices. The reality is that all those messages we got are just mean people that we will never meet or don’t care about. They can say whatever they want to themselves so they are happy going back to work… We have learnt to ignore them!
